ForumMIRO 2022

Safe supply of construction raw materials?

This year’s ForumMIRO will take place in Berlin from 28 to 30 November 2022. The leading event of the German gravel, sand, quartz sand and natural stone industry, supported by the Federal Association of Mineral Raw Materials (MIRO), is the most important meeting place for players and partners of the domestic producers of these important basic materials. Renowned guests from politics, authorities, institutes and research facilities enrich the professional exchange during the event. A trade exhibition of the supplying industries and service providers rounds off the programme.

After last year’s successful event under the valid Corona rules, the organisers are also optimistic about the 12th ForumMIRO at the end of November 2022: the programme is printed and the planned contents are promising. As the leading event of the German aggregates industry, the event retains its political orientation on the one hand and its legal and technical orientation on the other.

To start with, the political evening kick-off in the form of a professionally moderated panel discussion provides the necessary input for a thoroughly controversial exchange. This time the focus is on gradations, assessments and possible paths under the heading: “Green versus green ... goals, challenges ... and solutions?” Despite divergent patterns of values and convictions, it is ultimately important to seek and maintain a lively exchange and, reflected in results, to achieve convergences. The panel discussion will provide an important impulse for this.

In the further course of the event, various interests will be addressed with tailor-made offers. Those who like speed will be picked up in the plenary round with a report on the construction of the Tesla Gigafactory in Grünheide. The exemplary speed – also with regard to the approval phase – is something that many an entrepreneur in the aggregates industry would probably also wish for in their often tough approval procedures. Whether this will ever be the case is questionable – but what is ruled out in the future when determination takes the place of hesitation?

The fact that a faster pace may become imperative in the future, if only to continue to ensure nationwide supply in line with demand, can be seen in the introductory presentations of Workshop Series A on the need in view of necessary measures. At the same time, water law has additional tasks in store for extraction companies. Whatever has to be done in the industry’s plants is best handled with technology, drives and fuels that are already adapted to current requirements and also comply with the highest safety regulations (Block 3A). Workshop train A also poses the justified question of what effects the raw materials industry will have to reckon with in the course of the energy transition and the feared shortages.

Workshop train B will focus on the public image of the industry, recruitment and qualification of personnel, economic demand forecasts on a solid basis, as well as the contribution of the aggregates industry to energy production as a wide-ranging topic for the future.

Other popular offers, such as the get-to-know-you meeting of young specialists and managers, the MIRO evening (this time in the trendy event location Deep) and an interesting accompanying programme round off the ForumMIRO 2022.
