The use of digital technologies has also become indispensable in processing technology. With the help of digital networking and automation within material processing and production processes, flexibility, efficiency and therefore also the productivity of companies can be increased.

The technical article starting on p. 42 presents the Owl Eye®, a central digitalisation platform that enables continuous digital recording and real-time analysis of bulk material volumes. This form of seamless documentation of material throughput using the example of continuous fill level monitoring of a feed hopper provides up-to-date data at all times and thus forms the basis for efficient and transparent operational management.

The latest research and operational results, which were presented in March 2024 at the Symposium for Processing Technology in Freiberg/Saxony, demonstrated the possibilities opened up by the application of artificial intelligence, e.g. within process monitoring or process control for the processing of primary and secondary raw materials. Read the report from p. 8 onwards.

Another highlight of this issue of AT MINERAL PROCESSING is the interview starting on p. 38 on providing of customised screening solutions for the bulk solids industry, using the example of the customer-specific production of sustainable screen media made of elastomer materials.
