Impulses and challenges

Dear readers,

The demand for raw materials will continue to rise, so that in addition to the development of new primary and secondary raw material sources, the processing of raw materials will naturally continue to be characterised by innovative impulses and developments. The process of solid-liquid separation plays an important role in processing technology. The newly founded company Prentech offers individual engineering and equipment supply solutions for thickener and clarifier applications in the chemical and mining industries for precisely this area. Read the interview starting on p. 6.

The article starting on p. 52 focuses on REACH, the European Chemicals Regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals aiming at protecting human health and the environment through better and earlier identification of the properties of chemical substances used, for example, in the manufacture of rubber conveyor belts. The article explains how the regulation affects manufacturers, traders and users of rubber conveyor belts and the legal, environmental and human safety challenges involved.

In this issue of AT MINERAL PROCESSING, you can also look forward to further exciting articles on topics such as the extraction and use of recycled building materials, the use of digital future technologies with the aim of fully autonomous operating processes in mining, sustainable wear protection in conveyor systems, the extraction of aggregates from overburden in quarries using wet mechanical processing technology and much more.

Wishing you a good time

Ulrike Mehl
