Dear readers

In the transport of bulk materials, too, the focus is currently on the sustainable design of processes – in particular, the opportunities digitalisation opens up and how efficiency can be increased in processes and systems at the same time.

Two special conferences will be held in spring, which will approach this topic from different perspectives, see announcements on p. 16 and p. 17. In an interview starting on p. 18, Christian Hülsewig CEO and co-founder of Schüttflix, one of the first digital logistics hubs for the construction industry, reports on the challenges and prospects in the transport of bulk materials regarding intelligent material flow management. The technical article from p. 62 focuses on the design of industrial belt conveyors, with a special look at the advantages of single and dual-ply industrial conveyor belts in terms of durability, tensile strength and tear resistance.

In addition, new developments and application reports from other areas of processing technology, such as crushing and screening plants, sorting and separation technologies, etc. are presented in the FOCUS INDUSTRY section from p. 24. Another highlight is the report on one of the 4 gypsum recycling plants currently in operation in Germany from p. 55, which shows how waste can be turned into a high-quality building material.
