Interesting prospects

Dear Readers

The end of a year always provides an opportunity to review the past year and to make plans for the year to come. A summary is given in the article by Dr. Harder “Current Mining Development in Russia”. Russia is always an extensive topic in discussion groups, because many companies can contribute the most varied experience. However, objective and long-term planning turns out to be extremely difficult. The contribution of Dr. Harder takes a very comprehensive look at the Russian mining industry, compiles data from the year 2014 and shows very clearly the different mechanisms influencing an industry both positively and negatively.  The main factor of influence was the falling oil price resulting in a price decline of the rouble of 52 % in 2014. This is a fact that gives the general public a hard time. On the other hand, it gives the mining industry fresh impetus. After a general analysis, the article describes the development depending on the deposits and ores extracted.

With regard to the focus topic ‘granulation’, the article “It’s all about the mix” presents large-size equipment of 60 t as a solution for the mixing and granulating of sinter material in the steel industry. The contribution “Trouble-free transport for almost 20 years” describes a long-distance conveying system in the Atacama Desert in Chile and comes to the conclusion that conveying equipment is not a short-lived matter.

The combined editorial board at AT MINERAL PROCESSING wishes all of you interesting reading, a peaceful Advent season as well as a happy and successful 2016.
