ForumMIRO 2013
ForumMIRO is the name of the leading event of the German rock industry. It is organized at various locations in Germany. This year Aachen was selected as the venue, where it will take place from 6. to 8. November (Fig.).
2013 covers a lot of explosive topics. Not only because it is a year of parliamentary elections, but also because the failures of the past are just now drastically coming to light. The consequences have become particularly obvious as regards the maintenance of the infrastructure and building of social housing. In view of this, the raw and building materials industries should actually lean back and look confidently ahead to the increasing demand. However, in a political environment, which attaches too little importance to the value creation of its industries, it is always essential “to pay attention” because the companies and associations in the sector have to grapple with the less pleasant bills and draft regulations, complicated financing of companies, confusions regarding the Renewable Energy Sources Act, difficult conditions concerning the precautionary raw material securing, organized and/or instrumentalised enraged citizens as well as recurrent tax and charge covetousness.
In addition to technical lectures and a main focus on the recruiting of trainees, all these fields will be topics of the workshops at this year’s ForumMIRO at the Eurogress in Aachen. The Federal Association of Mineral Raw Materials (MIRO) will organize this leading event of the German rock industry. Prof. Günter Verheugen will give the introductory lecture during the opening. This speaker, who was an EU commissioner from 1999 to 2009, became known in the sector, in particular for his EU raw material initiative, with which he finally put the topic of raw materials on the European agenda again after a long break and started a discussion as regards the importance of raw materials. As usual, the event will be accompanied by a high-quality trade exhibition of leading equipment manufacturers and service providers in the sector, which will promise an additional knowledge input. The conference and registration documents are available on the Internet pages of the organizers (bv-miro.org) and (geoplanGmbH.de).
