Improving efficiency
When the sun shines, it usually has a positive effect on the body and psyche. However, intense sunlight and the associated ultraviolet (UV) radiation also have negative aspects and can damage the eyes and skin, for example. A large part of the UV radiation is absorbed by the ozone layer in the atmosphere, but as the ozone layer thins out, more and more UV radiation – as well as ozone – reaches the earth‘s surface. This can also lead to material damage, as described in the technical article „The invisible danger“ starting on page 54. UV light and ozone influence the service life of conveyor belts by, among other things, increasing wear and tear. Therefore, users should pay attention to UV and ozone resistance of the conveyor belts when purchasing.
Volume measurement and digital management of bulk material stockpiles is the topic of the second technical paper starting on p. 46. With the Owl Eye® Monitoring System, relevant data for inventory recording or batch splitting, among other things, are saved in a digital platform, which enables more efficient raw material use. You can find more articles on increasing efficiency in the Focus Industry section from p. 15.
