Positive response in spite of the difficult economic situation
The two fairs SaMoTer – international trade fair for construction machinery and equipment and earthmovers –and Asphaltica – trade fair for the asphalt industry, equipment, technologies and road safety - that took place as parallel events in Verona from 8 to 11 May 2014, were convincing also on a smaller scale despite the present difficult situation in the Italian building sector. Both exhibitors and expert visitors confirmed the first signs of a market recovery (Fig.).
The 29th Samoter and the 7th Asphaltica (in cooperation with Siteb – the Italian Asphalt Association) attracted 40 000 visitors to Verona. 15 % of them came from abroad. The interested expert audience from altogether 55 nations came mainly from France, Germany, Switzerland, the USA, the UK, Russia, Slovenia, China, Brazil and Spain. Furthermore, within the framework of the above two fairs, the Verona Fair organized international expert visitor delegations for 160 companies from 40 countries in cooperation with its global network of representations. It is particularly important for the Italian building sector to look at the foreign markets because 2.1 billion € of its 2.5 billion € of the entire production are related to exports.
Both the 445 exhibitors (including 106 national companies from 27 countries) and the fair visitors were completely satisfied as regards the high quality of the expert audience and the products exhibited. The most important Italian associations also talked about positive responses and a lot of optimism and confidence in the building trade. The next Samoter will take place from 22 to 25 February 2017.
