Explosion-proof switchgears for extreme stresses

Schmersal have developed and manufactured heavy switchgears for difficult environmental conditions. For the first time cable-controlled emergency switches and true-run switches for belts with different network solutions for short and long distances will be presented at the “SOLIDS Dortmund 2014” that will take place in Dortmund on 21. and 22. May 2014. These alternative concepts not only permit a simplified installation, for example, they also enable the visualization or documentation of each actuation of the switchgears.

Exemplary alternatives of all the standard and explosion-proof switchgear series will also be exhibited (Fig.). Some series are suitable for a temperature range from -40 °C up to +200 °C. They are predominantly used in the metal-processing industry. Heavy switchgears of the Schmersal program are used in power plants, cement factories, quarries, recycling plants, foundries and transhipment systems for ships and railway. They have been developed for temperature ranges between -40 °C and +80 °C and withstand high mechanical stresses.
