New investments despite economic crisis

After a construction period of just one year, J. Horstmann GmbH & Co. KG in Hörstel/Germany has put the extension to its production facility into operation (Fig.). On over 4000 m² the Münsterland-based manufacturer of conveyor and system engineering has now optimized its production flows to enable it to take on larger contracts. In the middle of crisis year 2009, the ground was broken for the extension in order to equip the company for the coming upswing. While production continued in the existing halls, from June 2009 first additional yard area was created and in September 2009 work began on the around 1000-m²-large extension. 90 m of the wall of the old production building had to be demolished to connect the two facilities with each other. The extension became necessary because the design and assembly of larger belt conveyors needed more space than used to be available. In addition, the company invested in the latest CNC cutting systems.
