Clearly increasing demand

The companies of the German holding company Atlas Copco Holding GmbH, Essen, had a turnover of approximately 655 million € in 2010 covering industrial tools, compressors as well as construction machinery and equipment. This turnover was a bit lower than that of the previous year (670 million €). The number of employees at the end of the year, i.e. 1838, was virtually on the same level as in the previous year (1843). The number of trainees has increased: in the meantime 91 trainees are employed in the companies, after 81 in the year 2009. After a restrained start, the business clearly recovered again in all branches in the second half of 2010. While the incoming orders of all companies strongly increased recently, there is a different picture as regards the turnover, i.e. the cycles in plant construction differ from those in general machine building. Increasing incoming orders in plant construction show up in the sales figures with delay. Also in the field of compressors and compressed-air technology Atlas Copco witnessed increasingly quick decisions of the customers in the second half of 2010.
