Technology and service up to date
Bell Equipment (Deutschland) GmbH will present new and proven articulated dump truck technologies (ADT) as well as their continuously expanded service offer at the steinexpo 2014. Product specialists and service experts from the Alsfeld-based Bell sales centre and the Eisenach-based Bell production facility will inform about the current vehicle program with a payload from 24.0 to 45.4 t. As regards variety, profitability and recognized reliability, this program offers tailored solutions for the operators of all 6 x 6 segments (Fig. 1).
A Bell B30E (240 kW, 28.0 t payload) shown at the Bell stand is an example of the new standards of the E series launched by Bell Equipment last year. Together with the smaller B25E (210 kW, 24.0 t), the completely new series developed offers higher payloads and larger loading volumes with a low unladen weight, which is still typical for Bell. The new models, which are still driven by engines from Mercedes Benz including “Blu@dvantage” SCR exhaust-gas converter (EUIIIb/Tier 4i), are further convincing with their high profitability and superior driving performance for long distances or under typical 6 x 6 off-road conditions. The chassis with a new front suspension and intelligent power distribution due to an electronically monitored inter-axle differential lock (IDL) and differentials on all axles ensures good traction even on most difficult grounds. All this is controlled by the driver in a cockpit that combines overall view, comfort and an ergonomically optimized operation of the vehicle functions supported by the numerous assisting systems.
A lot of the vehicle features now implemented in the E series have already proved a success in the ever-new generations of the successful D series from Bell during many years. At the steinexpo, Bell will demonstrate the B40D. The most manufactured model of the altogether six Bell ADT models has in its current Blu@dvantage version a gross power of 335 kW. According to the manufacturer, the vehicle of 37 tons with its still very favourable gross-net-weight will achieve comparable driving performances compared to the stronger but heavier models of the competitors. This is a clear advantage in the direct comparison of classes. All four models of the two large Bell series B35/40D and B45/50D today offer advanced safety features (gearbox retarder, oil-bath multidisc brakes) as well as “active” basic structure options for optimized driving performances and lower work stress. The standard equipment of the D-Series ADT including electronic information and assisting systems (on-board scale, dumping assistant, hill-start assist etc.) are far above the conventional category standards and essentially facilitate the handling tasks (Fig. 2).
Bell Germany will also present their own rental fleet of vehicles at the steinexpo that reasonably completes the rental parks of the Bell dealers active in Germany for more than three years. This offer is particularly adapted to medium and long-term requirements. Inspections according to works standards and the accompanying service support via the Fleetm@tic satellite fleet management ensure a high availability of the transport equipment used, for instance, in extraction companies, frequently as key equipment.
Furthermore, Bell Equipment will inform about their offers in the service range. In addition to long-term maintenance support, this also comprises the guaranteed wear and spare parts supply by means of the strong Bell logistics. With the European central store in Alsfeld and the close-meshed supplier relationships with the production facility in Eisenach, Bell Equipment offer an extraordinarily high availability in this segment according to their own information. This also includes professionally reconditioned replacement parts, which, with a comprehensive workshop guarantee, represent an economically interesting alternative to original spare parts.
