Logistics platform for bulk materials

STRABAG AG relies on Schüttflix in German traffic route construction

L‌ess than two years after its launch, Schüttflix has won one of Europe’s largest construction companies as another customer. The digital logistics hub will initially be implemented at STRABAG AG, Cologne, and in the further course – according to plans – also in the STRABAG SE Group for the supply, disposal and logistics of common bulk materials. In German road construction alone, STRABAG handles around 5000 construction sites annually. The rollout of the Schüttflix platform in the approximately 200 STRABAG construction companies in Germany will begin in January 2021 and will take place gradually until the end of the year. STRABAG expects the collaboration to further optimize its digital processes and increase transparency along the entire supply and disposal chain. STRABAG has also backed up its operational decision strategically with a minority shareholding.

The partnership with STRABAG was preceded by a comprehensive pilot phase in North Rhine-Westphalia. The conclusion after six months of cooperation: logistics, procurement and back-office processes become significantly more efficient, transparent and thus more cost-effective thanks to the digital all-in-one solution from Schüttflix.

“With Schüttflix, we are taking another big step towards the digital construction site. Functions such as paperless delivery documentation, live tracking, and the upstream price comparison portal make everyday life on the construction site easier,” says Thomas Nyhsen, technical manager of the STRABAG North Rhine-Westphalia Directorate, describing his experience with Schüttflix. He and his team implemented and evaluated the pilot phase.

“We are very proud that STRABAG AG, as the largest market player in Germany, has also opted for our platform solution. With this cooperation we underpin our ambition to transform the bulk materials industry in a sustainable way and to simplify the daily life of all market participants,” Christian Hülsewig, founder and CEO of Schüttflix, is pleased to say. “We continue to establish ourselves as a neutral market solution for the entire construction industry with the clear claim to be an open system for all who want to act future-oriented.”

The market for bulk materials has traditionally been extremely regionally fragmented. Schüttflix has set itself the goal of being the first provider ever to supply all common bulk materials throughout Germany at transparent prices. Nearly 2000 suppliers and forwarders are now part of the partner network. With more than 8000 bulk trucks, the Schüttflix network already has the largest bulk fleet in Germany. The average monthly sales growth is over 40 %.
