New Managing Director at the BBS
Dr. Matthias Frederichs (Fig.) is the new Managing Director of the Federal Association of the Building Materials, Rock and Associated Products Industry (BBS). Dr. Frederichs succeeds Artur Kissinger who retired after 38 years of service at the end of 2013. Previously Dr. Frederichs, who was born in Cloppenburg, was the Managing Director of the Council of Economic Advisors of the CDU (Christian Democratic Party) in Lower Saxony. After studying political science, jurisprudence and media science at the Leibniz University in Hanover, Dr. Frederichs first worked there as a member of the scientific staff at the Chair of Public Law. Then he managed the office of a member of the Bundestag in Berlin. In 2008 he joined the Federal German Association of the Cement Industry. As an adviser for industrial policy, one of his main areas was energy and raw material policy. Since 1 October 2013 he has been Managing Director of the Federal Association of the Building Materials, Rock and Associated Products Industry.
