New CityTrak 9TX impresses on commissioning
Following NordBau 2016, Jan-Peter Ingwersen Erd- und Abbrucharbeiten, an earthwork and demolition contractor, is successfully commissioning its fifth machine from the CityEquip series (Fig. 1). The new CityTrak 9TX crusher replaces the previously used 18-tonne CityTrak 7T6. The operating area of the demolition contractor extends over urban and rural regions between Lübeck and Rostock in Northern Germany. “A key feature of the machines are the comparatively low emissions. Like with the new CityTrak 9TX,” says Jan-Peter Ingwersen, explaining the choice of the new crusher.
The manufacturer CityEquip sees the development of the CityTrak 9TX crusher as an “upward addition” to its range. The crusher is in the hotly contested market for 30-tonne track-mobile jaw crushers. The list of special technical characteristics is long. Trailblazing is the large-sized feed hopper, which with a length of over 4.6 m enables filling with large machines. As a result, the operator needs only one loading machine. Hydraulically folded hopper walls which are wedged very simply in a user-friendly process shorten the set-up times to a minimum of a few minutes. The feeder with extended and different prescreening stages not only reliably transfers the feed material to the crusher, it screens out any fines with low wear and maximum effectiveness.
One highlight is the newly developed 900-mm-wide single-toggle jaw crusher. Here thanks to the optimized feed geometry, even the coarsest material can be reliably processed. Besides the easy gap adjustment, the special feature of the new crusher is the increased speed, which is around 10 % faster. The crushing rate has been raised to a new level. This feature enables the operator to work effectively and economically. This is also supported by the new diesel electric drive unit, which with a sound-insulated 110 KVA unit operates not only quietly but economically. According to information from the operator, consumption has levelled out at just 10 - 12 l diesel per hour. Proof of the state-of-the-art drive technology – especially against the background of the high throughput rates: In the first six weeks, Jan-Peter Ingwersen has crushed almost 25 000 t material with the new machine.
User friendliness was top priority in the development of the machine. Clear proof of this is the completely new design of the discharge belt. Besides the belt which is sealed over the entire length with plastic rails and impact elements, the 1000-mm-wide belt can be fully lowered hydraulically (Fig. 2). Cleaning and maintenance are facilitated enormously. If required, besides being lowered, the complete belt structure can be retracted from the chassis of the machine so that the belt can be quickly and easily accessed from all four sides. Large-sized platforms on the crusher and power unit enable easy and ergonomic access to all components. The freedom of movement for the operatives on the machine can regarded as trendsetting.
The CityTrak 9TX is equipped with a powerful overbelt magnet, which, at the push of a button, discharges material to the left or the right, an option that many users have long been asking for. A stable chassis with large-sized track chain and the cable and radio remote operation enable easy handling of the machine at construction sites and during loading.
