Giant reclaimer at open ore mine

Summary: At the Erzberg (Ore Mountain) in the Styrian town of Eisenerz in Austria, VA Erzberg GmbH produces around 2.7 mill. t/a fine ore at a material extraction volume of around 11 mill. t/a. This makes the Erzberg the biggest open iron ore mine in Central Europe. Since 2014, a fully automatic fine ore storage facility has been in operation there. A key component of this facility is the reclaimer supplied by SBM Mineral Processing, the Austrian specialist for mineral processing technology. The drive technology for the numerous conveying units of this highly modern bridge bucket wheel reclaimer was supplied by the WEG subsidiary Watt Drive.
