German Bulk Solids Association: Review and Planning for 2014

Whether referring to grit in winter, building materials such as sand, gravel and earth, raw materials such as ores and coal or cereals in the food sector, salt and sugar as well as powder and granular materials in the pharmaceutical industry – bulk solids is a collective term for all these materials, which are neither liquid nor gaseous. The German Bulk Solids Association (DSIV) can look back on a successful business year (Fig.). Already more than 30 member companies with a market share of 25 % of the total turnover of the branch make use of the comprehensive offer of the DSIV //www.dsiv.org" target="_blank" >www.dsiv.org:http://www.dsiv.org. As opposed to associations representing individual branches, the DSIV represents the general branch interests of companies which are active in the versatile field of bulk solids. In particular this refers to the production, storage, handling, processing and sales of bulk solids.

More than 1000 companies in the German-speaking region cooperate with industries that process bulk solids. The range reaches from plant planning up to suppliers of individual components for the processing of bulk solids. “The DSIV is not only a platform for the members for the exchange of views and experience. They also may take part in events, such as fairs, or make use of the benefits of further vocational training and specialist seminars at cooperating educational facilities”, explained Jochen Baumgartner, Acting Director of the DSIV. The DSIV could successfully conclude the year 2013 with participation at the easyFairs Bulk Solids Fair in Basel, the successful specialist member event “Explosion protection with bulk solids” at Brillon and the planning for 2014.

In 2014 the association will take part, for example, in the SCHÜTTGUT in Dortmund and in the POWTECH in Nuremberg. Furthermore, the association is a partner of the trade fair POWX of the Russian bulk solids industry, which will take place in Moscow in September 2014 for the first time. For May 2014 they plan to present the member companies at the Scandinavian market within the framework of a road show in Stockholm. The President of the association Stefan Penno, Managing Director of the company Rembe, expects a further strong growth in membership for 2014 since the association has gained an optimum reputation throughout the industries within one year only due to events with solid content and high communication density. As the interest group of companies in the bulk solids industry and their representatives in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, as well as other German-speaking neighbouring countries and regions in 2014, the DSIV will continue to fulfill its obligations, i.e. the safeguarding and promotion of the interests of members towards institutions and the global economy in a targeted and optimal manner.
