Downtime usually causes substantial economic loss. Reducing the factors responsible for this is the primary aim of any producing company – including mineral processing. Wear-related losses of production and the resulting costs can be reduced to a considerable extent in some cases through the selection of suitable materials for the different components of a plant. Downtime is also an issue when it comes to conveying dusty, abrasive, corrosive or wet materials.
