Asphalt recycling with RM impact crushers

A‌sphalt recycling is very profitable. Large quantities of it are produced day after day. And just like concrete, asphalt is a very high-quality and versatile building material. If you then crush it directly on site with a mobile crusher, you save additional transport costs. This is a lucrative business, especially if the material can be processed at any time of the year.

Rubble Master RM 100GO! mobile impact crusher is a star among mobile compact recyclers. Summer heat, hot asphalt give it no trouble at all when crushing. The mobile power package is fully operational within minutes to crush up to 250 t of material per hour. The all-rounder promises simplicity and efficiency in every operation. This is made possible by the GO! principle of RM crushers, which also makes it easier for newcomers to handle the sophisticated crushing technology. The traffic light colors green – yellow – red show the way to intuitive operation.

For the crushing of asphalt, RM’s development engineers have paid special attention to this special field of application and have sought innovative solutions to avoid foreign fillers. For this, a gentle crushing process is desirable. RM crushers are pioneers in the processing and search for optimal solutions. RM crushers control the rotor speed, break up the asphalt slabs with the first bar contact, and then bounce the crushed material against the toothed apron. The toothing gently splits the bitumen grain compound, similar to the jaw crusher. In accordance with the feed sieve curve, the apron can be adjusted  in distance to the rotor at the upper and lower bearings in order to produce the optimum grain spectrum.

A combination of RM impact crusher with integrated secondary screening machine is popular. Maximum reduction in the first crushing pass is not the goal. Rather, the focus of the setting is on gentle crushing operation without high filler production due to the deliberate return of oversize material.

Downtimes or costly cleaning work due to sticky bitumen dust are ruled out - not only because of the low filler content. Christophel CEO Rüdiger Christophel explains why: “The driveline coolers don’t come off the shelf. We attach particular importance to easy-to-clean, coarse cooling fins. For cleaning, we simply swing them out of the plant and have the best access from all sides.”

Some of Christophel’s RM customers are welcome service providers in high-throughput asphalt recycling at numerous mixing plants. The applications are many and versatile: from direct recycling asphalt production on site, to saving mineral and bituminous materials, to bulk material in the high-level road network. The RM 100GO! is popular, it is extra-quiet and extra-strong with top productivity in the usual easy handling and compact size.

When the mobile crushing plant is not crushing asphalt into a finished cubic end grain in variable fractions, the RM 100GO! is also suitable for crushing natural stone or construction waste – easily transportable at any time and quickly.
