Optimized and sustainable!
Dear Readers
In spite of the forthcoming holiday season, our issue in June again includes high-quality technical articles focussing on the topics drying and dewatering as well as conveying and storage.
The first technical article in this issue (p. 38) deals with the main topic ‘conveying’, strictly speaking with analysing the service life of idlers. Some newly developed products are presented as examples, which have proved a success in belt conveyor systems in lignite opencast mining. A modified test apparatus for the determination of the specific Blaine surface area is proposed under “Reduced deviation” (p. 45). The reproducibility of the measured specific surfaces of a test substance could be considerably improved with this test apparatus. In “Automatically calculated” (p. 54) the main concern is the design of rotary dryers in step with actual practice. A corresponding program makes it possible to determine the design of rotary dryers and to optimize them, taking into account the individual parameters, such as throughputs, gas volume flows, temperature etc. The user, however, also have the greatest possible freedom to input their own practical values, for example.
Some practically oriented articles deal with further developments in materials handling in the category Focus Industry. Special attention is paid to both process safety and sustainability.
The second half of the years will start in August with the Steinexpo (31.08.-03.09.2011) before POWTECH opens its gates in October (11.-13.10.2011) - just an announcement for our readers for easier planning after the holidays!
I wish you enjoyable reading and – as always – a lot of new insights!
