Rokbak exhibited at further important construction trade fairs

April saw Rokbak attend another prominent construction trade event, with long-time dealer EMS taking an RA30 to CQMS in the Republic of Ireland.

The year so far has shown that the opportunities to showcase the Rokbak brand and talk to customers and dealers, both old and new, have been plentiful. Attendance at AED and CONEXPO have rewarded the Scottish articulated hauler manufacturer and helped the company spread the word about its robust and reliable RA30 and RA40.

This was proven to be the case once again in April, a little closer to home this time, with a spot at the Construction & Quarrying Machinery Show (CQMS) – the Republic of Ireland’s only construction, quarry and recycling event that has live equipment demonstrations.

CQMS is a biannual event, last held in September 2021, the month in which Rokbak rebranded. Specifically for the demonstration of high-class construction equipment, CQMS enables the industry to reconnect and reunite around the strength and position of the Irish construction and quarrying sector.

Between April 21 to 22, 2023, Rokbak’s long-time dealer EMS took the RA30 to the show at Molloy’s Quarry in Tullamore. Rokbak EMEA Regional Sales Manager Kenny Price and Garry Moore, Customer Support Manager UK & Africa, also attended the event.

“At CQMS we met with customers and potential future customers, together with the EMS team, to further establish the Rokbak brand in Ireland,” said Kenny. “It was good to show visitors how our haulers deliver low total cost of ownership and high productivity on a variety of jobs, including quarries, large-scale construction projects, infrastructure developments and mines.”

Ireland market update

“At CQMS we were able to talk to individuals and contractors from across the quarrying spectrum,” explained EMS Sales Director Seamus Flynn. “We were pleased to see the attention the Rokbak hauler received and the enquiries that have followed. In Ireland, customers can be cautious about their buying decisions and we’ve seen some of that since the back end of last year. Having said that, we have a strong underlying economic position which is underpinned by a growing housing market and solid foreign direct investment, particularly from North America. There are very good quality civil engineering and infrastructure projects around, with more people coming into the country, and more housing, schools and hospitals required. As such, there is always massive benefit for us and Rokbak in attending shows such as CQMS and engaging with potential partners in which our machinery can be applied effectively in the future.”

As a multi-product, multi-franchise dealer importer with over three decades in the industry, EMS provide a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Irish construction sector. Headed up by Seamus and Eamon O'Loughlin, EMS was established in 1989 and continues to develop its total solutions strategy for customers by providing a comprehensive range of brands and products which are sold on a national basis.

Balmoral Show boosts Rokbak brand in Northern Ireland

In May, Rokbak displayed its RA40 articulated hauler alongside its long-term dealer for Northern Ireland, Sleator Plant, also at the Balmoral Show near Belfast.

Hosted by the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society, Balmoral Show took place at Balmoral Park near Lisburn, south-west of Belfast, between May 10 – 13, 2023. Northern Ireland’s largest agri-food event has become the latest stop for Rokbak to demonstrate the power and potential of the RA40, as well as meet first-hand with a growing customer base in the region.

The Scottish articulated hauler manufacturer has joined its trusted Northern Ireland dealer Sleator Plant at the Balmoral Show 2023, with the RA40 articulated hauler taking centre stage at Outdoor Stand D8 across the four-day event.

Visitors to the stand could get up close to the RA40 and speak to both Rokbak and Sleator Plant product experts to discuss the technical capabilities and key aspects of the haulers. “Our customer base in Northern Ireland is growing and we at Rokbak appreciate this expanding market across the Irish Sea,” said Rokbak Regional Sales Manager Kenny Price. “Sleator Plant is a highly respected and dependable dealer that offers excellent customer service. We are proud to join the team on their stand and present the RA40 to existing and future customers. We’re here to show exactly how the RA40 can help benefit projects in Northern Ireland and deliver exceptional standards in both performance and total cost of ownership.”

Strong demand in Northern Ireland

Sleator Plant specialises in the supply of machinery to the construction and material rehandling sectors, with a focus on innovation, quality engineering and value for money. The company provides high-quality, responsive service and reliable parts availability for Rokbak customers across Northern Ireland.

Sleator Plant has helped exhibit Rokbak articulated haulers at the last three Balmoral shows, stemming back to September 2021, around the same time that the Rokbak rebrand was first unveiled. On that occasion, Sleator Plant won Best Trade Stand for its equipment display. “It’s fantastic to be able to demonstrate a Rokbak articulated hauler for the third year running at the Balmoral Show,” said Aaron McCaul, General Manager at Sleator Plant. “We’re seeing increased interest and awareness of the brand year on year, and there has been an uptick in demand for Rokbak haulers in Northern Ireland. The face-to-face interactions we enjoy at these events have already demonstrated to us how the recognisability of the Rokbak colouring and aesthetic has grown in such a short space of time.”

Focus on the RA40

Arriving in a straight-to-the-point sand-coloured palette, the 38 tonne (41.9 US ton) RA40 is a heavy-duty articulated hauler that makes light work of large-scale quarry, mine and construction jobs. Offering high capacity and performance, the RA40 delivers cost-effective productivity in the toughest conditions and roughest sites, from quarries and infrastructure developments to commercial construction projects. The RA40’s transmission and high-performance engine maximise fuel efficiency, offer operator comfort and deliver power when needed. The modulating transmission retarder is coupled with an efficient exhaust brake and fully enclosed oil-cooled multidisc brakes for total control – even on steep inclines.

For the European market, it features the latest EU Stage V emissions-compliant engine, boasting up to a 7 % improvement in fuel efficiency compared to older EU Stage IV engines.
