Metso enhances filter delivery times
03.08.2023To meet the growing demand for mining and industrial filters, Metso will upgrade the machining process in its Filtration Technology Center in Lappeenranta/Finland. The new unit to be installed is designed for fast machining of filter plate pack frames, which are essential elements in pressure filters used in mining and industrial applications. The new machining unit is expected to be commissioned in 2024.

“Besides enabling an increased production throughput, the new machining unit will allow improved delivery times of high-quality frames to our customers. It will also bring flexibility to the production process. This investment is part of our continuous development program in Lappeenranta and follows the recent installation of a state-of-the-art laser welding unit and modernization of the office premises,” says Tero Tiainen, Director for Filters Manufacturing at Metso.
Metso recently announced a doubling of the capacity of its filter assembly plant in Suzhou, China, and a major investment to its first polymer filter plate production unit in Mexico to meet the growing global demand for filters. In addition, Metso produces ceramic filter plates at its plant in Turku, Finland, and operates a unique Dewatering Technology Center in Lappeenranta/Finland.
Metso’s filtration portfolio consists of 15 different filter types and comprehensive services for hundreds of applications. Over 80 % of the Metso filters are part of the company’s Planet Positive portfolio, primarily thanks to their efficiency in the recovery and reuse of water. The company has carried out more than 14,000 filtration tests and delivered more than 5000 filters for various applications worldwide. Many of the filters are sold under the Larox® product name along with Metso corporate branding.
