New MICHELIN XDR250 50/80 R57

Quarry operators are always trying to improve the productivity of their business. Michelin comes up to these expectations with the new tyre MICHELIN XDR250 for rigid frame trough tippers and a payload of up to 250 t. The new tyre makes it possible to increase the number of tonne-kilometres per hour by up to 24 % as opposed to the MICHELIN XDR2 40.00 R57. This is one of the most characteristic productivity figures in the sector. The MICHELIN XDR250 was developed in teamwork with the leading mine equipment manufacturers Caterpillar and Komatsu and is used for the CAT 793F as well as for the AC KOM 830E. The six-wheel trough tippers in this vehicle category reach a maximum speed of up to 65 km/h and a total weight of up to 390 t. The MICHELIN XDR250 is already available on the market.

The additional productivity of the MICHELIN XDR250 is achieved due to the increased carrying capacity and the possible handling speed. This does not involve any compromise for the operators as regards the service life. To harmonize the opposite requirements, Michelin has completely revised the design of the new MICHELIN XDR250.

The most important properties of the MICHELIN XDR250 are:

·High carrying capacity: With a rated load of up to 67 t per tyre, the MICHELIN XDR250 sets new standards in the market for trough tippers with a payload of up to 250 t. The carrying capacity is increased by 11.6 % as opposed to the predecessor, the MICHELIN XDR2 40.00 R57.

·More volume: The air volume of the new MICHELIN XDR250 is increased by a total of 9.2 % compared to the MICHELIN XDR2 40.00 R57.

·Reduction of the operating temperature: The new design of the tread is characterized by small rubber blocks that are crossed by various grooves to optimize the airflow and the cooling. As opposed to its predecessor, this reduces the peak temperature by up to 8 °C with comparable operating conditions. Thus, customers are able to handle a heavier load with the same speed or they can increase the operating speed.

·The new tyre MICHELIN XDR250 is compatible with the MEMS (MICHELIN Earthmover Management System). This technology makes it possible to monitor the temperature and the air pressure of the individual tyres in real time.
