The operator of a large gold mine in Australia was faced with replacing the previous linings in a cyclone and in the elbow pipe of a feed circuit due to surface wear. “With PERFORMANCEline products by REMA TIP TOP, the service life of the new linings was extended by up to 20 %, significantly increasing the service life of the plant,” says Ben Gatzlaff, Group General Manager Industry at REMA TIP TOP, explaining the result of this successful project.

The challenge: Increasing service life with high material throughput
In gold mining, high surface wear occurs in conveyor systems with high conveying volumes of 150 to 200 tons of material. The previous surface protection at wear hotspots in the cyclone and elbow pipe no longer met the increased demands regarding the service life of the linings. The goal was to significantly increase the performance and service life of the wear protection and thus also the service life of the system with the help of proven solutions from REMA TIP TOP.
The solution: Sustainable surface protection with REMA PERFORMANCEline
The new wear protection lining of the cyclone was implemented with REMA PERFORMANCEline 35 for high mechanical loads. PERFORMANCEline 35/CM was used for the new lining of the elbow pipe of a feed circuit, especially for applications in wet environments. In both cases, a 10 mm rubber lining was applied using the REMABOND adhesive system from REMA TIP TOP for optimum adhesion under extreme conditions.
The result: System service life increased by 20 %
With PERFORMANCEline products from REMA TIP TOP, the service life of the lining in the cyclone was extended from two to two and a half years. The service life of the surface protection in the elbow pipe of the feed circuit was also significantly increased from previously three months. The operator’s goal of increasing the service life of the conveyor system by at least 20 % through more efficient and sustainable surface protection was successfully exceeded.
