Innovative solutions

Dear readers
A successful trade fair year is slowly drawing to a close, at the same time preparations for the trade fairs planned for the coming year 2024 are already in full swing. One year before the start of the trade show combination of SOLIDS & RECYCLINGTECHNIK in Dortmund on 9 and 10 October 2024, 80 % of the exhibition space have already been booked. More information on the trade fair can be found from p. 8.
Starting on p. 42 you will find the continuation of Prof. Dr. Georg Unland‘s article on „Comminution of raw materials – the collision mechanics of impact and percussion comminution“. After the presentation of the classical theory of restitution in the first part of his article (see AT 10/2023, p. 46-56), Prof. Unland deals in the second part with its widening to the theory of collision and discusses the various physical processes of the different types of collisions on the basis of a mechanical test sequence with different test materials.
The process water treatment in sand and gravel washing is the focus of the second technical article starting on p. 52. Stricter environmental requirements are increasingly restricting the use of chemicals in water treatment, among other things. As an alternative to the flocculants commonly used so far, Biomontan offers a new flocculant that does not contain polyacrylamide but, according to test runs, is comparable in its performance to conventional products.
Further case studies with innovative approaches to solutions can be found in the FOCUS INDUSTRY section starting on p. 10.
Wishing you interesting insight
