Variety

Dear Readers

Bentonite and barite have exceptional properties and so they can be used for many purposes. Both materials can be processed by means of the grinding and separating systems from NEUMAN & ESSER in such a way that they meet for instance the high technological requirements for the use in mud fluids during oil and gas explorations (from p. 60).

Gallium is also extremely versatile as regards its use. It is a rare, soft, silver metallic element, which is used, amongst other things, in optoelectronics or in semiconductors. The contribution starting on p. 70 deals with the optimization and development of processes for the extraction and processing of gallium, e.g. from bauxite as one of the main sources.

Another main focus of this issue is on current developments and processes in the gravel and sand industries. Furthermore, we are informing you about the upcoming SOLIDS Dortmund 2015 that will take place from 4th to 5th November. This year a record growth will characterize the event. The Event Director Daniel Eisele reports on the novelties and highlights of the fair in an interview starting on p. 14.
