Technology for success
Komatsu will present the highlights of new and innovative concepts at the steinexpo. In addition to moderated demonstrations of the use of large machinery and equipment at the demonstration area, concepts and solutions for the value chain in the quarry will be shown. In addition to this, there will be a wide range of information about the services of Komatsu and the German team of Komatsu dealers.
Whether overburden stripping, raw production, primary comminution, rehandling or pile service, upgrading of finished products and renaturalisation as well as recycling and recovery are concerned - Komatsu has a portfolio of dumpers, wheeled loaders, bulldozers and hydraulic excavators of the most different sizes and designs for these purposes. A special highlight from Komatsu is the new crawler excavator PC490-11 with the latest engine technology according to EU stage 4/Tier 4 final. The new engine is not only more environmentally friendly, but also further reduces the fuel consumption by up to 5%. The in-house development and manufacture of key components, such as the engine and the hydraulic system, ensure an extraordinary performance of the machine under all conditions of use.
The dumper HD605-7 with a payload of 65 t from Komatsu will be presented at the demonstration area (Fig. 1). With this machine it is possible to achieve a daily transportation performance of approximately 2500 t. For example, the new wheeled loader WA500-7 from Komatsu perfectly suits this dumper (Fig. 2). Its efficient drive including the large-volume torque converter and the fully automatic engine control “Komatsu SmartLoader Logic” is again much more economical due to the exact dosing of the required output.
In addition to the classical quarry equipment, the program of Topcon as regards machine control and survey will also be shown at the Komatsu stand. With the new D61PXi-23, Komatsu is the trailblazer regarding intelligent machine control. This bulldozer has a fully automatic blade control from a coarse up to a fine formation and, thus, achieves a clearly increased efficiency as opposed to the conventional types. All components of machine control are integrated in the workshop and ensure an optimum performance in interaction with the other groups of parts from Komatsu. The cooler arranged in the tail enables a heavily inclined design of the bonnet and, consequently, a unique, good view to the front and to the blade.
The new crawler excavator PC210LCi-10 from Komatsu has also been equipped with automatic control. The excavator of 21 tons of the new series 10 is the perfect basis for this. With an integrated and intelligent sensor technology, similar as that of the D61EX/PXi-23, it is possible for the boom to be automatically adjusted to the specified height. Komatsu will supply the new hybrid excavator HB215LC-2 for operations that need a lot of slewing motions. In this case fuel could again be saved by up to 5 % as opposed to the previous model due to innovative product improvements and a new engine according to the EU stage 3B.
Machine and fleet management is gaining more and more importance. The KOMTRAXTM system is the most highly developed machine monitoring system in the sector. Preset categories enable a first division into essential parameters without having to consider individual devices in more detail. The list shows a summary of all connected machines with data regarding operating hours, fuel consumption as well as evaluations concerning the hydraulic work and operation in the economy mode.
It is also possible to determine the total cost of ownership per machine and use. After surveying the quarry face, an individual job analysis is carried out and the cost is exactly calculated in cent/ton taking into account the materials, quarrying time, staff and fuel costs.
