Sand and gravel

In the issue AT MINERAL PROCESSING 04/2015, we reported on the relocation of a gravel works owned by the Münchener Kiesunion (MKU) from the old site on Hollern Lake to Eching Sued near Munich. The new gravel works has successfully been in regular operation since May 2015. A report describes in retrospect the special challenges that all those taking part in the project faced with the required flexibility and creativity, but also with great expertise and reliability so that finally everyone was completely satisfied.
In the specialist paper, Dr. Zlatev from HAVER NIAGARA GmbH reports on “Optimizing the production of crushed sand for the dry-mix mortar industry”. In order to develop for the plant operator a flexible equipment concept for long operating lifetime with high equipment availability, in addition to the design of the plant configuration, the influence of mineralogical-petrographic rock properties of the raw material deposit must also be taken into account.
Making its 10th year in existence, the EQAR (European Quality Association for Recycling) organized a congress on “Construction Materials Recycling in Europe” during which the need for action for more recycling of construction and demolition waste in Europe was discussed.
