New nextSTEPTM flaotation technology
FLSmidth launched its new nextSTEPTM rotor/stator technology during the annual Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME) conference in Denver/USA. Used in forced-air flotation equipment, the patent-pending design of the nextSTEPTM rotor/stator provides a “step change” in flotation metallurgical performance and energy efficiency (Fig.). The nextSTEPTM rotor/stator has a very low operating power and is characterized by improvements in attachment rates, stronger air dispersion, and improved pumping efficiency. FLSmidth has been field-testing the new nextSTEPTM rotor/stator at several installations including the previously announced FLSmidth 600-series Supercell™ flotation site in Nevada, currently the largest operating flotation cell in the world. Not only for new installations, the nextSTEPTM rotor/stator is designed to be interchangeable with existing FLSmidth forced-air flotation mechanisms. The technology can also be retrofitted into any existing forced-air flotation cell.
