Marius Kloppers back in the mining industry

Marius Kloppers (Fig. 2), former CEO of BHP Billiton has been appointed as a new member of the Board of FLSmidth. The election and appointment came as part of FLSmidth’s Annual General Meeting held on 5 April 2016. At FLSmidth, Kloppers will lend his decade-long experience in the global mining industry to the Danish supply and services expert.

In a recent interview with Makes Sense TV, Kloppers explains why he chose to invest his time with FLSmidth and gives his outlook for the mining industry’s attempts at recovery from the economic slump of the last few years: To achieve much-needed efficiency gains, the mining industry will heavily increase its spending on service agreements and equipment with performance guarantees. This gives FLSmidth an opportunity to aid global mining companies in adjusting to the “new normal” in the global mining market.
