Kiesel’s in-house development receives World Demolition Award 2014
Kiesel received the award together with its system partner Kocurek in the category “Manufacturers’ Innovation Award”. In this category for series and small-series products, outstanding developments and innovative solutions that are specially tailored to the needs of the demolition sector and focus on the cost efficiency of the solution are given awards. Criteria for the presentation of the awards are the uniqueness of the concept, the engineering and development achievement as well as customer orientation and satisfaction.
The Kiesel Multi Carrier KMC350-5 BTV was able to convince the jury on all counts (Fig. 1) and is Kiesel’s solution for demolition sites that demand flexible demolition systems. Higher utilization, lower transport and operating costs, faster working progress and more flexibility at the working site – this package of benefits is offered by the novel machine concept. Available for four carriers from 30 to 90 tonnes operating weight, it comprises a large selection of work equipment and is therefore unique on the market.
The basis of the Kiesel Multi Carrier generally consists of a hydraulic excavator upper structure on a hydraulically adjustable undercarriage. Depending on the specific working application, the working equipment is changed. This is where Kiesel comes in with its in-house developed system. As a long-standing exclusive partner of Hitachi, its chain excavators ZX250-5, ZX350-5, ZX470-5, ZX520-5 and ZX870-5 are used as base machines. In Kiesel’s department for special machinery in Geisingen the KMC carriers are designed. A total of 11 working equipment accessories, from the high-reach boom to the lattice boom crane, can be used in construction and foundation engineering, demolition or recycling.
Core elements of the KMC concept are two modules patent-protected for Kiesel:
Kiesel Boom Quick Connect is a fully hydraulic quick-change system. It enables fast and safe change of the boom, without the driver having to leave the machine. With the Kiesel Boom Quick Connect, the carrier machine is transformed from a straight hydraulic excavator to a flexibly used equipment carrier.
Kiesel Tritec on the other hand is an innovative hydraulic cylinder system that is controlled by means of a patented Quattro-Speed valve. Here, if required, an additional third lifting cylinder supports the two standard cylinders and, in the case of high load, increases the lifting power by up to 50 %. With low load, the third cylinder operates empty, saving on fuel.
“We are delighted that our innovative drive is reaping more and more international recognition,” said Managing Director Toni Kiesel at the Award Ceremony (Fig. 2) about the system solution with which he would like to set new standards in demolition.
