Hillhead – It’s a sell out

The three-day exhibition takes place from 28 to 30 June 2016 at Tarmac’s Hillhead Quarry, near Buxton, Derbyshire/UK. Demand for the 2016 event has been buoyant with every square metre now allocated, including a new outdoor area at the southern end of the site and an extended Registration Pavilion. More than 460 exhibitors will attend, with all the major industry players returning as well as some exciting new companies for 2016 – showcasing the latest products, services and ancillary equipment for the quarrying, construction and recycling industries.

Hillhead is famous for its live demonstrations and 2016 will be no different with a wide range of equipment being put through its paces in a live quarry environment. More live demonstrations than ever before are planned and will span four dedicated areas:

● The Quarry Face will host large excavators and faceshovels (40+ tonnes), hydraulic breakers, large wheel loaders (buckets of 4 m³ and above) and rigid and articulated dumptrucks. Leading suppliers featured will include: Volvo, Caterpillar, JCB, Bell, Doosan, Hyundai, Liebherr, Komatsu, Miller, Case, Worsley Plant, Hitachi and Terex Trucks.

● The Rock Processing area operated in the ever-popular ‘crusher alley’ will showcase the latest tracked and skid-mounted crushers, screens, scalping grids and stockpiling conveyors from manufacturers including Terex Finlay, Sandvik, Powerscreen, Tesab, QM&S and McCloskey.

● The Recycling area to the south of the site will show a range of crushing, shredding, screening and washing equipment, using material imported on to the site including general C&D waste, reject concrete blocks, waste asphalt and brick rubble. Among others, Haulmark, Maximus, Baughans, Herbst, Warwick Ward and Engcon will demonstrate their latest equipment alongside JCB.

● Finally, the Registration area will combine both rock processing and recycling demonstrations. Highlights will include the MDS International heavy-duty M515 Track Trommel (50 tonnes), together with various excavators, crushers and screens from Red Rhino Crushers, Rockster, CGCS, Global Construction Plant, SMP Parts, Buntons, Sany (TDL Equipment) and many others.

The new Hillhead App

The Hillhead App will provide visitors with up-to-date event information and useful functionality, before, during and after the show. Visitors can plan and navigate their Hillhead experience using the floorplan and exhibitor profile tools, as well as make appointments and network with fellow visitors and exhibitors via integrated social media functionality. Being able to access your appointments and exhibitor information directly on the tablet or smartphone, makes it easier than ever before to make the most of the visit to Hillhead. The Hillhead 2016 App is kindly sponsored by the Institute of Quarrying, the professional membership body for quarrying, construction materials and the related extractive and processing industries.

Their expert team on Stand H3 informs visitors about how to achieve professional recognition through a combination of work experience and accredited qualifications. The Institute will also be unveiling its new, innovative Skills Wheel at the show. The Skills Wheel identifies the core competencies and areas of knowledge that employees should develop as part of their commitment to lifelong learning. It is designed to help individuals and operators understand the different skills areas to develop in order to have a successful career.

Complementing the Skills Wheel, visitors can also find out more about the Institute’s own bespoke CPD (Continuing Professional Development) recording App, available free to members. The App provides members with a simple yet intuitive way to easily record CPD and submit their activity in a central, accessible place. The Hillhead 2016 App is available to download now through both the Apple and Google Play stores, and also at the following link: http://bit.ly/Hillhead2016App
