Expansion of the Lokotrack series from Metso Outotec
It was not least against the backdrop of rising fuel prices and in the interest of improved operating efficiency and cost-effectiveness that Karl-Werner Bierbrauer became aware of the new mobile cone crusher – the Lokotrack LT220GP from Metso Outotec. Together with Metso Outotec’s long-standing supplier and service partner for technologies, Fischer-Jung Aufbereitungstechnik GmbH, it was decided to visit the new product directly at the Finnish plant in Tampere. After a successful presentation, Bierbrauer decided to use the plant in its quarry in Ettringen; Europe-wide the first delivery of the LT220GP. Fischer-Jung has already been working exclusively for Karl-Werner Bierbrauer’s group of companies for ten years.
“We have already been using the LT220GP as a secondary crusher since January,” explains Product Manager Ralf Beissel. “After delivery, our dealer and service partner Fischer-Jung Aufbereitungstechnik immediately took care of commissioning and on-site instruction. The cone crusher itself is particularly impressive due to its versatility and high throughput. On the one hand, there is the active pre-screening, which classifies fractions into 0/16 or 0/32 mm on request and which are not even fed into the crusher circuit. The extracted fines prevent premature wear of the crushing tools and thus unnecessary interruptions in operation. On the other hand, we obtain a product that can be sold immediately while maintaining the process stability of the plant.
With a downstream mobile screening plant such as the Lokotrack ST4.8, a cubic 8/16 material is obtained for revegetation or a 16/32 end product suitable for drainage layers. The throughput of the LT220GP, on the other hand, is largely dependent on the primary crusher used: for the time being, we are using the LT106 jaw crusher from Metso Outotec here, which in this constellation enables us to achieve a production volume of around 2000 t in 0/45 grain size per day.”
Until now, a Nordberg HP200 series cone crusher has been operating in the second crushing stage at Terratec-Basalt GmbH. Not least due to the active pre-screening unit, the track-mounted LT220GP can achieve a throughput that almost matches the level of a Metso Outotec LT300HP cone crusher. Due to these performance reserves, the plant at Terratec-Basalt GmbH will soon be accompanied by a larger primary crusher such as the Lokotrack LT120 jaw crusher from Metso Outotec, which is expected to significantly increase productivity.
Managing Director Karl-Werner Bierbrauer is satisfied with the work of the new cone crusher: “With the LT220GP we are able to process four fractions with the additional use of a screening plant. The flexibility of the track-mounted plant has proven to be a great advantage in our quarry in Ettringen right from the start, enabling us to work faster and more effectively throughout. We are convinced that by using the same primary crusher with the LT220GP, we can achieve a significant increase in performance, produce more fractions in this way, and thus work even more economically. At this point, we would also like to emphasize the support service provided by the company Fischer-Jung Aufbereitungstechnik from Krefeld under the management of Ralph Phlippen, with whom we have been working closely for such a long time – no matter whether it is a question of the availability of wear and spare parts lines, the provision of service fitters or the commissioning of the new cone crusher.”
