AUMUND Bucket Elevator Transports Ammonium Sulphate
Successful project conclusion for the Minerals & Mining Division of AUMUND Fördertechnik: since the successful start of operation at the end of 2014, an AUMUND bucket elevator (Fig.) is used for the transport of ammonium sulphate at the Antwerp Eurochem plant in Belgium. The by-product of the production of synthetics is used as fertilizer among other uses.
The AUMUND belt bucket elevator with a bucket width of 1250 mm and an axis-centre distance of approximately 42 m replaces a previously existing bucket elevator at this plant. The challenge for the planners of Eurochem and AUMUND was to install a machine in an existing building, which at a performance of 800 t/h has a capacity about twice as high as that of the previously existing bucket elevator. The old bucket elevator, a slow runner with central discharge, has been replaced by a fast running AUMUND belt bucket elevator by now. Beyond the bucket elevator, AUMUND provided also a distribution chute and various connective chutes. Due to the corrosive atmosphere at the plant, the entire bucket elevator was made of stainless steel. Besides, plastic plates are utilized as wear protection.
