ATM becomes part of the Scientific Division of the VERDER Group

With the acquisition of ATM the VERDER group extends the portfolio of its Scientific Division in the business segment of sample preparation of solids (Fig.). The company is one of the leading manufacturers of machines for metallographic applications. The instruments are used both in industrial processes and research to prepare solid bodies of metal or compound materials, usually followed by microscopic analysis. The headquarters are located in Mammelzen, between Cologne and Frankfurt, where ATM employs 150 staff.

Managing Director Heinrich Müller founded the company more than 35 years ago. All instruments are developed, manufactured and assembled at the headquarters in Mammelzen. “ATM will greatly profit from the resources and experience of the group, thus obtaining an optimum starting basis for our international expansion”, Heinrich Müller explains the decision in favor of VERDER. “With the acquisition of ATM the VERDER Scientific Division will become the market leader for mechanical sample preparation of solids”, states Dr. Jürgen Pankratz, Director of the Division. ATM’s product range perfectly complements the offering of RETSCH, one of the leading manufacturers of laboratory mills for sample preparation and also part of the VERDER group. As part of the VERDER laboratory division, ATM particularly profits from the international sales and marketing strength of the group with activities in more than 80 countries. ATM will continue to operate out of the Mammelzen headquarters as an independent company.
