Successful certification

In recognition of the extraordinary commitment of the Holcim Group as regards occupational safety and health protection, for the first time also the occupational safety system was certified according to the guidelines of OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) in the course of the re-certification of the quality and environmental management system DIN EN ISO 9001 and 14001 at Holcim Kies und Beton GmbH. Thus, Holcim Kies und Beton GmbH has complied with these three internationally recognized standards at all 17 locations. The certification was carried out at Coesfeld by ENVIZERT Umweltgutachter und öffentlich bestellte und vereidigte Sachverständige GmbH (environmental verifiers and publicly appointed and sworn experts). In this way, Holcim Kies und Beton GmbH has a certified integrated management system that takes into account quality, environmental protection, health protection and occupational safety. Primarily, the certification according to OHSAS 18001 is intended to ensure a safe configuration of workplaces. Safety and the working conditions of the employees clearly have top priority. In autumn 2010 the cement factory of Holcim (Süddeutschland) GmbH in Dotternhausen will also be certified according to OHSAS 18001 so that all 18 factories belonging to Holcim in South Germany will be certified according to this standard.
