Pollutec Horizons 2011: initial figures
Pollutec Horizons closed its doors on 02.12.2011. Al-though it suffered a slight fall in visitor numbers (a total of 29 680, down 10 % on 2009), it strongly confirmed its position as a solutions show case, as the French Minister of the Environment, Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet stressed, with every visitor having the opportunity to learn about the themes lying, “at the heart of the evolution towards a lower carbon footprint society”.
Pollutec Horizons 2011 (Fig.) established itself as the cleantech, the innovation and the sourcing show for environment questions, confirming its role as a guide for professionals who have more and more specific expectations. Evidence for this comes from the success of the new areas that were launched this year – ecological engineering and biodiversity, satellite applications, the sustainable town, social responsibility – and the attendance figures for the cleantech and green business meetings and the various forums, with certain talks even having to turn people away. A high proportion of visitors to the show came from key functions (eg.: sustainable development director), demonstrating how such professions are increasingly emerging within companies and organizations. The next Pollutec will take place in Lyon/France from 27.–30.11.2012.
