The science behind the innovation
At the heart of the BQR Cell lies the MAXGen mechanism, born from an extensive research program initiated in 2014. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling, high-speed camera analysis and over 300 rotor-stator prototypes, DELKOR optimized bubble size distribution and improved particle-bubble interaction. The result? A step change in flotation efficiency and performance.
The patented MAXGen mechanism ensures precise froth level control and enhanced hydrodynamics, enabling operations to achieve their recovery targets with fewer cells, translating into lower capital and operating expenditures.

- In South Africa, a major platinum operation installed 14 BQR Cells - the largest such installation by TAKRAF Group in Africa. Another magnetite operation in the Northern Cape commissioned four cells shortly before.
- At Australia’s Wiluna gold mine, MAXGen demonstrated its capabilities in improving gold recovery in a demanding environment.
- In India, where the MAXGen mechanism was developed and patented, the technology has been integrated into a wide range of projects, underscoring DELKOR’s strong local presence and innovation legacy.

Performance, flexibility, sustainability
With enhanced flotation kinetics and particle interaction, MAXGen not only supports greater recovery - it also supports more sustainable mining practices through reduced power consumption and greater process efficiency. These benefits make the BQR Cell ideal for both greenfield and brownfield operations, whether optimizing performance or expanding capacity.
From gold and platinum to magnetite and base metals, DELKOR BQR Cells with MAXGen are enabling miners worldwide to unlock greater value from their ore.
